About Helal UDDIN
I started my art works when I was 4 years old, using charcoal to draw on wall and ground. Used to draw small thumbnail sketches while I was doing home works and listening to my teachers. Decided to be a painter at the age of ten and have done many drawing and paintings since then.
While I was a student at Central Academy of Fine Arts, Dhaka University, I received a scholarship from Chinese Govt. to pursue my B.F.A (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and M.F.A (Masters of Fine Arts) in Oil Painting Department from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. I successfully completed M.F.A and also did a Diploma in Animation (Traditional and 3D) from Beijing Film Academy. While in Beijing Film Academy, I was engage in producing several Television Commercials for BTV (Beijing Television).
After graduated from China, I returned to Bangladesh and worked as an Animation Coordinator cum Training Instructor at Rivers Institute of Visual Arts. Also conducted private lessons on Fine Arts in different organizations. During that period, I had two successful solo exhibitions of my water color artworks at Dhaka.
After working for couple of years at Rivers Institute of Visual Arts, I join Ekushey Television Ltd, a private terrestrial television network in Bangladesh as a Senior Graphic Designer. My responsibilities there included Channel Branding, Show Packaging, Special Promo Package, Motion Graphics, Info Graphics, News and Program Set design also lead graphics team. Later, I became the Head of the Graphics department in Ekushay TV.
After working for three years in Ekushay TV, I joined Sesame Street, as the Head of Animation at Nayantara Communications, a USAID sponsored pre-school television program. This was a challenge job where I was responsible to build a total animation section and lead the animation team. I produced 2d and 3d animations for national and international broadcast.
After completing my Sesame Street project, I joined Stamford University in Dhaka, Bangladesh as the Animation Trainer for a yearlong contract and on completion of contract period, I returned to Ekushey Television as the Head of Graphics department
As the BBC World Service Trust started their project in Dhaka, I joined them as a Senior Creative Designer for two years contract. During that time, I also worked as a trainer at BTV (Bangladesh Television) national television on behalf of BBC. I was responsible for every aspect of the design process from start to finish, developed them on creative ideas and concepts. There I have done very gorgeous set design for Youth Magazine program BBC Buzz, title animations and motion graphics. Also done title animation and graphics for 'This Week in Parliament'.
After completion of this project, I was commissioned by BBC for designing of 'BBC Songlap', 'BBC Janala', 'Mojay Mojay Shekha Season-1 and Season-2'. I made some stunning sets, imaginative, striking props and witty, intricate and apposite graphics, as well as all animation productions.
End of 2010, I migrated to Canada with my families. I joined Sun News Networks Ltd on Jan 2011 and continued until Feb 2013 as a Motion Graphic Designer. Here my main duties were production of Motion Graphics, Info Graphics, Show Packaging, Daily News Graphics, Title Animation, Logo Design etc.
Now I'm working as a full-time painter and teaching arts and conducting workshops. I influenced by scenic beauties and love to doing plein air landscape paintings and different flowers of all seasons focusing on fresh and vibrant colors and shape.
I started with watercolor, which is a relatively challenging medium and I really enjoy doing it. I'm member of The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. Beside watercolor, I'm also doing oil paintings, acrylic and pastels as well. I love to draw rural and urban landscapes and also portraits and figurative drawings. Please feel free to look at my works and comment as well.
